Edmontonians Invited to Women's Health Symposium April 25 '26, a YEGParents & EndoDiagnosis collaboration
Edmonton, Canada - April 6, 2026 / EndoDiagnosis Inc. /
Edmontonians are being invited to take part in the community led Women's Health Symposium taking place on April 25, 2026 at the Holiday Inn Conference Centre in South Edmonton, offering discussion and education on the recent elimination of the years-long delay females experienced when receiving an endometriosis diagnosis and treatment. The event is organized by YEG Parents, in collaboration with EndoDiagnosis, and designed to bring together Edmonton-area residents for an educational conversation about endometriosis, a condition that affects more than one in ten women worldwide, yet remains widely misunderstood and chronically underdiagnosed.
At the heart of the symposium is a focus on the diagnostic challenges that have historically made endometriosis one of the most difficult conditions to identify and confirm. On average, it takes five to ten years from the onset of symptoms for a woman to receive an endometriosis diagnosis. The most common symptom is debilitating period pain, which usually starts in the teenage years. During the often decade-long diagnostic delay that follows, females are dismissed by medical professionals, told their pain is normal, or misdiagnosed with other conditions entirely. The consequences of delayed diagnosis are significant. Endometriosis can progress during those years, worsening symptoms, causing damage to reproductive organs and other tissues, and leaving a woman without appropriate treatment or support. It is the leading cause of female absenteeism from work and school. For the public healthcare system, overall healthcare costs rise by over 60% with just a 4 year delay in diagnosis.
Part of what makes this symposium particularly timely is the growing conversation around new tools and approaches to endometriosis diagnosis and treatment, including the emergence of the Health Canada authorized for sale TIER-1 ENDOSURE test, a non-invasive testing option that's dramatically shortening the time it takes to detect the condition. ENDOSURE test is most similar to an electrocardiogram, but for the gut. Already available in an Edmonton gynecology clinic, ENDOSURE test has attracted attention as a non-invasive, accurate and rapid diagnostic tool compared to imaging technologies such as ultrasound and MRI and near-contact laparoscopic surgery, the current gold standard for confirming endometriosis. For many women, access to this kind of surgery is limited by long wait times and geographic barriers, particularly in rural and remote parts of Alberta.
EndoDiagnosis has made education a cornerstone of its mission, and the Women's Health Symposium in Edmonton is one of several community efforts the organization has undertaken to ensure that women have access to accurate, up-to-date information about the tools and resources available to them. For women in Edmonton who have long suspected that something is wrong, been told their pain is normal and have struggled to get answers, the symposium offers an opportunity to learn more about rapid access endometriosis testing and treatment options that currently exist, and a chance to connect with others in the community who are acting to close this women's health gap.
EndoDiagnosis and YEG Parents hope that the Edmonton symposium will serve as a launchpad for ongoing community education efforts for women's health in the city. They view the event not as a standalone moment but as the beginning of a sustained effort to improve awareness of the women's health and research gap in Alberta and to ensure that Edmonton women have the resources they need to pursue faster, more accurate diagnoses. With tools like the ENDOSURE test becoming part of the broader conversation, organizers believe the conditions are right for a meaningful shift in how this condition is identified and addressed in the Edmonton community.
We are encouraging Edmontonians interested in women's health, and more particularly endometriosis, to register for the event at https://www.yegparents.ca/women-symposium.
